Dinner in Nyhavn – by the Water

When the day crowds thin out, Nyhavn slows down. The light turns golden, the boats head home, and the quiet end of the canal is at its best.

That's when dinner on Oranje begins.

The evening kitchen

From 17:00, our kitchen – led by head chef André Wiedmayer – turns to the evening dishes. Shellfish risotto with crayfish, mussels and parmesan. Captain's Catch: mullet with crushed potato, baby beetroot and reduced cream. Fries and Fine Cuts with chimichurri cream and grill butter. And potato rosti with Jerusalem artichoke, leek and miso, for those who skip the meat. Craving something hearty? The three-cut shepherd's pie – lamb shank, leg and heart under creamy mash – is made for cool evenings.

Honest food, cooked well. Nothing more complicated than that.

From the sea

Fancy starting with oysters? Lemon, mignonette, and the canal right beside you. Order the shellfish risotto as a starter, share the octopus – or keep it simple with fish and chips.

Sunset, served on the side

Oranje has one of the best sunsets in Nyhavn. Watch it from the Top Deck with a cocktail in hand – an Infinity Negroni, perhaps, or a glass from our wine list, from organic Prosecco to Chablis and Rioja. Prefer something local? Our craft beer on tap comes from breweries close to home.

Down on the Lower Deck, the evening turns intimate. Soft light, old timber, the water just outside the portholes. Want to stay on land? The Dockside Terrace puts you right in the middle of Nyhavn life.

A ship with a story

Built in Holland in 1898, Oranje carried cargo for almost seventy years before she was lovingly restored by Jørgen Krahg Oranje – who still owns her today. Since 2016 she has been moored here in Nyhavn. Dinner aboard is a small journey, without ever leaving the quay.

Save room

Gâteau Marcel with sea buckthorn. Raspberry Cloud. An affogato, with or without a little amaretto. It's the kind of evening that deserves a proper ending.

Good to know

Dinner is served from 17:00 to 21:00 (Friday–Saturday until 21:30), and the bar stays open a little longer. Booking is recommended, especially on warm evenings. And if you're looking for dinner near Nyhavn, it doesn't get much closer: we're moored at Nyhavn 65A, in the quiet end of the canal, a few minutes' walk from Kongens Nytorv. Coming as a larger group? Have a look at private events.
